Mercedes-Benz is. German automobile brand which produces luxury vehicles, trucks, buses and coaches. In 2018 it was the biggest company in the world selling premium vehicles. Approximately 2.3 million passenger cars have been sold. The company was founded on 28th of June 1926 by Karl Benz, but it was first made in 1886 and advertised in 1901 by DMG. It was named after Emil Jellinek's daughter Mercedes Jellinek. Emil Jellinek established the logo and was promoted only to the richest people at the time from his home. Some of his customers were Rockefeller, Taylor, Morgan and the Rothschild family. As the Mercedes name was taken Mercedes-Benz instead were produced in 1926. In the 1930s, model 770 was produced which was popular during the Nazi period. It is a model issued at the time with bulletproof windshields and driven by Adolf Hitler. Mercedes-Benz issued several Popemobiles. Mercedes-Benz became a basis for manufacturing later on other vehicles ensuring more safety. About 45 000 slaves were used in 1944 in Daimler's-Benz's factories. Mercedes-Benz is a part of the Daimler AG company and also includes the production of Smart cars. Mercedes-AMG became to a large extent owned division of Mercedes-Benz in 1999. Maybach was discontinued because of low sales in 2013 and became a part of Mercedes-Benz, and it became part of Mercedes. All-electric battery cars are expected to be sold in China under the brand name, created between the cooperation of Daimler with BYD Auto. Mercedes is also manufactured in Asia, UK, US, Thailand, Turkey, South Africa, Spain, South Korea, Nigeria, Serbia, Russia, Iran, Mexico, Malaysia, Jordan, Indonesia, Finland, India, Hungary, China, Canada, Egypt, Colombia, Argentina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Australia, Algeria, Austria and Brazil. During the 1990s and 2000s, the reputation of the company suffered but then recovered again in 2005. In 2007 it jumped from 25th place to 5th rank for quality. In 2008 the company took fourth place and received Platinum Plant Quality for their assembly plant in Germany. It was also ranked above the average for reliability in 2011. Models produced so far include- A,B,C,E,S,SLC,GLA,GLC,GLE,GLS,R,V and X Class. The models are indicated with G, K, S, R, L, T, D, E or C letter depending on the engine type and the body style and lower-case letter to indicate trim levels. They are also producing electric cars and take part in racing events and Formula 1. They also did build the first robot car in the 1980s able to reach up to 175 km per hour. In 2015 a self-driving electric van was introduced under the name Vision Tokyo. They are sponsors of the national football team of Germany, also VfB Stuttgart and Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Mercedes-Benz has many inventions behind its back, later on, taken to other cars and used nowadays. The internal combustion engine was first developed by Maybach, Daimler, and Benz in 1886. The honeycomb radiator and the float carburetor are another inventions standing behind the brand. In 1924 was invented the first car with brakes on all four wheels. In 1951 was created the safety cell again by Mercedes-Benz. In 1981 for the first time are set pre-tensioners to the seat belts on the S-class introduced. In 2003 the first seven-speed automatic transmission was launched under the name 7G-Tronic. However, Mercedes-Benz wanted to improve the automotive industry and even provided their competitors with them. They are also the first to introduce the Pre-Safe system. In 2007 the company was granted the Safety Award. In 1936 was designed the first car running on diesel.

Several different famous people participated in the development of the company, such as Ferdinand Porsche, Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg, Michael Schumacher, and others, many of which are interested in the company from their early age and have contributed with participating in rallies, development of parts and others.

In 2006 and 2007 the company was the manufacturer with the worst emissions, and in 2008 the company had again the worst CO2 emissions of all large European manufacturers taking the 14th place out of 14 participants. However, in 2018, it recovered its reputation by winning the Asthma and Allergy Friendly Certificate.
