Volkswagen LT was the biggest van produced by Volkswagen from 1975 to 2006. It was created in two generations.
The first generation was produced from 1975 to 1995, and it was also known as LT 28, LT 31, LT 35, LT 40, LT 45, LT 50, and LT 55. About 471 000 vehicles were produced. It was called Typ 28 from 1975 to 1991, Typ 21 from 1991 to 1995, and Typ 29 from 1984 to 1989.
The second generation was produced from 1996 to 2006, thanks to cooperation between Volkswagen and Mercedes. It was called Typ 35. For the period, approximately 350 000 vehicles were built. Volkswagen Crafter substituted them.
