They were produced during the period from 1990 to 1998, during which about 1 530 000 cars were produced. It was a replacement of the 700 Series. They include S90, Volvo V90, and 940 Classic which are the last rear-wheel drive Volvo cars. They appear the same from the outside with the previous models from the 700 series. They were also used to create ambulances.
Volvo 940 was in production from 1990 to 1998. They were offered with four-speed automatic and manual and five-speed manual transmission.
Volvo 960 was produced from 1990 to 1998 as a four-door saloon and five-door estate. It also had improved handling.
