780 was produced between 1985 and 1990 in Italy. It was launched as a 2-door coupe and was considered an upper-middle-class car. Approximately 8500 vehicles were built, and nearly half of the vehicles were sold in the US market. It was mainly made for the US market, but it was also sold in Spain, Austria, Italy, and Switzerland. A standard engine was V6 PRV with 2.9 liters and 170 hp with a catalyst with 147hp. Four-cylinder turbo engine was also available as an option with 2 or 2.3 liters impact volume. They were offered with four-speed automatic transmission and four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive. It was based on 780, with an improved design. Radio, equalizer, and amplifier were new. In 1988 a facelift and multi-link rear axle were added. In 1990 as the last improvement were added differential locks. Spare parts for the model are considered rear and expensive.
