760 was produced between 1982 and 1990 in Sweden. It was built with high expectation and was more modern than the previous models. The body and chassis were entirely new. It was available both as sedan and station wagon. The idea for the design was taken from Chevrolet Caprice and Cadillac Fleetwood. In 1987 facelift was added and new interior and front side were launched. Approximately 220 000 were produced. The models were with six-cylinder PRV petrol B28E and turbocharged six-cylinder diesel engine TD24 from VW. Four-cylinder 2.3 liters petrol engine with turbo and manual gearbox was also an option. Since 1983 the models were only with automatic transmission. In 1988, the 80-liter fuel tank was launched, and improvements of the injection system were made. Multilink for the sedan model was also available. It was marked as an upper-middle-class car.
