Volvo 740 was an upper-middle-class car produced between 1983 and 1992. It was with six-cylinder 2.4 liters diesel engine and four-cylinder 2.3 liters petrol engine with a carburetor and 114hp as an option at the beginning. Later on four-cylinder 2.3 liters petrol injection engines, 2 liters four-cylinder turbo diesel engine and a six-cylinder 2.4 liters suction diesel engines were also available. The gearbox transmitted through a PTO shaft to the rigid rear axle. In 1989 facelift was added, and the catalyst became a standard. The diesel engines were taken from Volkswagen. It was produced in Sweden, Belgium, and Canada with an automatic and manual transmission.
