The G class produced between 1979 and 1998 was manufactured by Daimler-Benz and was known as G-Wagen at the time. It is labeled as a four-wheel drive Luxury SUV. It was constructed in Austria. It has fully locking differentials and is one of the rear vehicles with such. It was first meant as a military vehicle and later on as a city car. In 1981 air conditioning and automatic transmission were introduced. In 1982 a fuel injection was set on 230 GE also and improved heating. Until 1986 approximately 50 000 vehicles were produced. In 1990 a facelift was added. It adopted the name G-Class in 1994 when an airbag and front disc brakes became standard.
