BMW Z1 is the first model of the Z series roadsters, produced between 1989 and 1991, offered with 2.5 liters straight-six engine, 5-speed manual transmission, plastic interior, and different vertically sliding doors. It is among the first BMW's with multi-link rear suspension. Despite the plastic, the car remains safe. It could be driven, even with removed panels. It was with Z Axle rear suspension, multi-link design, and front suspension and wheels from 325i. The engine is with 168hp 2494cc. They were produced in Germany with left-hand drive, launched mainly in red color. About 35 000 vehicles were in demand before the production started, but BMW was not able to produce more than 20 per day. In the end, about 8000 were built, and the production ended in 1991.
