It is the third generation of the 7 Series, launched in 1994. It was available with V12, straight-six and V8 engines and it was the first car with curtain airbags and the first European with satellite navigation. It was also the first BMW with an in-built television. It had side tubular airbags, ASC+T traction control, Electronic Damper Control, bullet-resistant glass, and double glazed windows. Communications systems, radio, and audio system were also available. All the models were available with five-speed automatic transmission, and some of them with 5 and six-speed manual transmission. The first models introduced were 740i, 750i, 730i, and 725tds.
