Audi V8 was introduced in 1988 initially with 3.6 liters V8 engine and 250hp, with an automatic transmission and four-wheel drive. In 1992 was added a 4.2 liters V8 engine with 280hp. V8 was more expensive than the Audi 200, with a new front and improved bumpers. Audi V8 was produced as a four-door full-size luxury sedan between 1988 and 1993. It was the first time V8 engine to be combined with an automatic transmission. It won several competitions. Ten years warranties were also issued to the owners. They also had leather seats. Audi V8 was a vital part of developing the brand at that time. They had a unique grille, extended wheelbase, new bumpers, and new interior. A thermostatically controlled electric cooling fans were also added. They were offered with the permanent Quattro four-wheel drive system. Because of these features, the performance decreased while the fuel consumption increased. A six-speed manual gearbox was upgraded. Audi V8 was offered with walnut wood trim, child safety door locks, tinted glass, hands-free, ABS, PAS, and disc brakes on the rear and front wheels. A sports version was also introduced with 414bhp and 456 bhp 3.6 liters V8 engine. The three cars launched, won the Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft taking the first three places. In 1991 it again won the championship.
