The Audi 100 is a four-door vehicle with front-engine, front and all-wheel drive executive sedans. It was in production from 1968 to 1994. Four generations are introduced, designated with C1, C2, C3, and C4. The second and third generation were sold as Audi 5000 in the US market, and as Audi 500 in the South African market. Two-door models were available in the first and second generation. The five-door wagon was also available in the third generation.
The first generation was in production from 1968 to 1976, during which approximately 827 500 vehicles were produced.
The second generation was produced from 1976 to 1982, with about 988 600 vehicles produced during the period. However, the Audi 5000 was produced until 1983.
The third generation was in production from 1982 to 1991, followed by the fourth which was produced from 1990 to 1994.
